HEIC

HEIC (full name: High Efficiency Image Format) is an efficient image file format, also known as HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format). It was developed by the MPEG organization (Moving Picture Experts Group) and adopted by Apple as its default photo format for iOS 11 and later. HEIC has a smaller file size and higher image quality than traditional JPEG formats. This is because HEIC uses advanced compression algorithms such as HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) to reduce the size of image files while retaining more image detail and color information. In addition to smaller file sizes and higher image quality, HEIC supports other features such as transparency, depth images, and dynamic range images. This makes it more flexible and versatile in editing and sharing images. Although HEIC has become one of the mainstream image formats, not all devices and operating systems are able to process, display or edit HEIC files correctly. If you need to view or edit HEIC images on a device that does not support HEIC, you can convert them to other formats such as JPEG or PNG.
